San Francisco’s Union Square will bloom with 80,000 tulips to mark the change of seasons on March 21 with its annual Tulip Day.
Tulip Day traditions go back to 1929 with a festival in Holland, Michigan, itself a tulip center, In San Francisco, the event is sponsored by JP Morgan Chase and the Union Square Alliance.
The flowers, grown in the U.S. from Dutch bulbs will not only be on display, but available for visitors to pick a free bouquet of up to eight flowers for themselves or to give.
