While Gene and I were exploring Dodge City, Kansas we came along this huge statue named Salsa Man. The statue is made of fiberglass, towers 26 feet tall, and is a caricature of a Mexican waiter who is serving Mexican cuisine. For a little history, in 1980 an artist named Bob “Daddy O” Wade refashioned a muffler man made to look like a soda jerk carrying a hamburger, into what is now known as Salsa Man. Apparently the artist used the hamburger top bun for the sombrero and the bottom bun for the tray. He used real tires to turn the work shoes into huarache sandals.
