While my husband and I were in Philadelphia last year, he wanted to check out the Rocky Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. At the bottom of the steps is a larger-than-life bronze statue of the fictional Rocky Balboa of Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky movie by artist A. Thomas Schomberg. Along with thousands of others, Gene ran up the 72 steps then took a couple of pictures in front of statue. If you are ever in Philly, this is a fun thing to do.

I visited the museum in 2021, while having serious knee issues. By the time I got to the top of the steps, I felt pretty ‘rocky’ myself—especially when I discovered that entrance was closed and that the entrance that was open was at the same level as the bottom of the steps!
The interior of the museum and its collections are also amazing; here’s my TravelGumbo piece from that visit.
Awe bummer Paul. Glad you still had a nice visit. We weren’t able to explore the museum while we were there, but I know we will be back as there is so much history in the xity that I want to still explore. Thank you for your message and the link to your visit.
