Monday this week was a public holiday (UK) so I went off in search of new lambs being born in the local farms. No lambs yet - but the Aberdeen Angus family were having a family day ! Had to wait for an hour before the young Angus got to his feet.

Excellent pic, Garry! Believe that's the first time we've shown a photo with an umbilical cord in it on TravelGumbo. Presume mother and child both did well....

I'll keep you posted ! You make it sound like POD material - but I'll refrain. Would make a good series though .. From Birth to Burger !

  Thank God there are still cowboys in the world!  Tough, hard-working guys -- real men.   I came across this fellow I'll call "Roy" at the Bar U Ranch  in Alberta.  The Bar U is a Canadian Historic Site that every summer...

Gumbo was visiting the historic Bar U Ranch National Historic Site, once one of the largest ranches in Canada. The ranch preserves buildings and the historic period when large herds of cattle roamed the prairies, before they were fenced in.

An interesting feature of North Yorkshire are these unusual barns, built of local stone to store hay and house animals during the winter. Ian Cook shares their stories and some interesting photos.

Great piece and, as always, great images Ian, of one of my favourite parts of Yorkshire.

One never knows when a travel moment can become a lasting memory....   While driving to Waterton Lakes National Park in southern Alberta (the twin park to Montana's Glacier National Park ), I pulled off the road for some photos of the scenery, and was left with a different memory.
