Gumbo was found by George G at the Historic Brunswick Courthouse in Georgia. It is in Magnolia Square. The courthouse was designed by New Jersey architect Charles Alling Gifford and was completed on December 18, 1907 at a cost of $97,613. It was used as a courthouse until 1991, when the new courthouse was built across the street. Some restoration of the building happened in the early 1990's.
The city of Brunswick was founded by the Royal Province of Georgia in 1771 and was laid out in a grid-like street pattern with squares and green parks. The historic names of a lot of streets and squares reflect its English heritage.
The Old Town Historic District has many beautiful Victorian style buildings and homes. Although not as popular a tourist destination as Savannah or Charleston, Brunswick is definitely worth a visit.
