United, Air China sign up new codeshares

United Airlines and Air China, both Star Alliance members, have expanded their codeshare agreement, opening up 22 new routes to codesharing.

Codesharing allows an airline to place its flight numbers on another airline's planes, and sell through tickets as though it were the sole operator. Makes it simpler for the passenger, and allows the airlines to easily sell tickets to desired destinations.

In this case, United flies directly to Beijing and to Shanghair. The Beijing route will now have nine more Chinese destinations with United flight numbers on Air China planes to Miauyang, Taiyuan, Sanya, and other cities.

Air China flies to New York/JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Washington and Honolulu. Air China numbers will now be added to selected United flights from those cities to Dallas, Cleveland, Tucson, San Antonio, Seattle, Austin, Columbus, Tampa and Nashville.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
