Where are you most likely to be scanned and probed? After airports, the likely answer is stadiums and concert venues—and the TSA is seriously interested in advanced technology now in use at the San Francisco 49ers' Levis Stadium.
The system there is a Swiss Army-knife of security that reads tickets, analyzes bodies as they go through, and scans belongings for threats. Radiation and chemical sensors check for explosives and weapons. Patrons are guided through the system by color-coded lights.
The system, made by a Silicon-Valley company, is called Qylatron, and can handle 600 people an hour with four employees—that's an order of magnitude difference from the current airport lines. TSA has said that its vision of the future would be a free-flowing hallway that never bottlenecks passengers...this sounds like it might be close to the goal. Now, if it is the way to go, will Congress fund it? It's cost must be somewhat reasonable if it pays for itself at a football stadium, but...
