Tired of staying in? Private island for rent...

If you've had just enough of prowling the cramped spaces of your apartment, Noah Gordon has a deal for you. He wants to rent you a 26-acre island in Casco Bay, Maine, now that his plans for making it an ultra-luxury event venue and yacht club have fallen through for now.

House Island—Gordon owns half and has rental access to the other half—is now being offered as a safe haven for some wealthy soul to retreat from the pandemic world. It has three habitable dwellings, private beaches, bird-watching sites and water-taxi service to the Portland waterfront. And oh, yes, each house has its own helipad.

Gordon is pitching it at New Yorkers with a claim that it's faster to get to than The Hamptons on Long Island; "You can be wheels up on a jet out of New York or DC, land in Portland, and arrive on House Island with your 1st cocktail in hand, in less than 2 hours."

But there's a catch to all this. Rental for Gordon's half of the island is pegged at $250,000 a week. Plus 'expenses.'

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
