Reno's Wall of Resolutions

Nearly every airport takes note of the holiday season with decorations, performances and other special events to entertain those who are waiting or to move people through, but few ask travelers to stop and reflect as the new year approaches.

But Reno Tahoe International Airport in Nevada is doing just that, with a wall set aside with pens and Post-its, inviting passengers, staff and visitors to post their hopes or resolutions for the coming year. The wall will be up until January 5, and has already garnered a large number of serious, touching or humorous posts. Some, gathered by a Points Guy correspondent clearly reflect their location and circumstance: "Get PreCheck." "Wear loafers for TSA." "Don't miss any more flights." And even "Reduce my carbon footprint." "Qualify for the Boston Marathon." "Be nice to my mother-in-law."

New Yorkers' post-election billboard

It's not the first time a wall of Post-its has become a venue for public thinking; above in the Union Square subway station in Manhattan, New Yorkers shared their concerns, anger, hopes and more, just days after Trump's election.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
