Olympic bobsled? No, it's a coaster!

If you've ever screamed on a roller coaster, or while watching video of Olympic bobsledders, or if you wished you had, here's your chance on a new roller coaster that tracks the route of Lake Placid's Olympic bobsled run, at speeds faster than you may want to think about.

The Cliffside Coaster is the longest 'mountain coaster" in the U.S., and is part of a plan to turn the Adirondack resort area around Lake Placid into a year-round destination rather than one focused on winter sports and skiing.

The coaster is 7,650 feet long, about 1.4 miles, two-thirds of which is downhill, in two-person cars that resemble bobsleds. The elevation change is 495 feet, and, if you can hear it over your screaming, it comes with a sound track providing "informative and exciting commentary for riders as they glide through twists and turns that replicate the historic track."

Tickets are $55 for one person, $65 for two so you have someone to hold onto as the car spins around the mountain.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
