MAX crisis puts turboprops back in the air

With its six Boeing 737 MAX planes out of service for now, Icelandair is turning back the page for some of its schedule and  will fly some routes with turboprops this summer.

The routes, from Reykjavik to Dublin and Reykjavik to Manchester, will have  some of their flights on De Havilland Dash 8s starting July 15. The planes will be leased from a regional affiliate, Air Iceland, and have about the same range and speed as the jets they replace. 

The Dash 8 has more recently been built and operated as the Bombardier Q400, but with Bombardier's exit from the commercial aircraft market, the new owners have restored the De Havilland name and model numbers.
