On my way from Hong Kong Island to Lantau Island and the Po Lin Monastery, I caught the ferry at Central for the ride to Mui Wo. Emerging from the terminal building there, I was struck by the dense sea of bicycles parked to one side, presumably ferry commuters going from sleepy Lantau to work in Hong Kong. Despite the fact that no one was there mid-morning, it seemed quite symbolic in one of the world's most populous countries.
