Gallery: The Worst Train in the World Redux

On November 17, 2013 I posted a story here describing a train ride through the hills of rural central Burma.  It began...

“The earthquake should have been a clue.  But having rather enjoyed the ride, as I have since childhood in an earthquake-prone part of the world, it didn't occur to me that it might be a warning.  I should have listened.”

That train was likely the worst “moving violation” in a long travel life in places with plenty of opportunities for bad rides.  At the time I wrote it for Travel Gumbo I was grateful to train guru Mark Smith for his permission to use photos from his best-train-website-in-the-world, Seat61.com.  Now, with access to my own pictures, click here to read the original story, and enjoy the photos that go with it, below.
