The Flathead River is located in the northwestern part of Montana. It originates in the Canadian Rockies, north of Glacier National Park, and flows southwest into Flathead Lake. Past the lake the river continues to the Clark Fork River, providing almost half of its flow.
These photos were taken in the stretch of river past Flathead Lake, before it merges with the Clark Fork River. As you can see from these images, the river flows through some of the best scenery in Montana. It's popular with trout fisherman and rafters.
The photo below was used as last weekend's One Clue Mystery. No one recognized the spot.
Depending on how the light hits the water, it often has a turquoise color from the glacial silt within it.
