Copenhagen, Berlin top list of most livable cities

Copenhagen, Berlin and Helsinki are at the top of Metropolis magazine's 2016 list of the ten most livable cities.

The honor is based on a number of factors, with the city's accessible infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians high on the list. The magazine also noted Copenhagen's intent to become carbon-neutral, and to prepare proactively for climate change.

Of course, opinions can vary: Monocle magazine, which also ranks cities, put Copenhagen at #4, praising the same things, but pointing also to a high cost of living.

Metropolis #2 kudos for Berlin cited its repurposing of buildings, its array of arts events and its program of creating living space for refugees and studios for artists. Monocle, by the way, ranked Berlin #3.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
