Carnival might delay first USA cruise to Cuba in over 50 years

On Monday, Carnival announced they will delay May's launch to Cuba and subsequent sailings there until Cuba lifts rule that bars Cuba-born Americans from the trips. Carnival also announced that it is now accepting bookings to Cuba from passengers born in any country, including Cuba.

This announcement follows controversy in Miami for not allowing Cuba-born Americans to book the sailings to Cuba and also a lawsuit filed last week by two Cuba-born Americans who were turned down when trying to book a cruise to  Cuba.

Carnival said it was confident that ongoing discussions with the Cuban government would result in the elimination of the rule barring Cuba-born Americans by entering by sea and noted Cuba already allows Cuba-born Americans to travel there on chartered aircraft.
