Boeing test flight draws 22-state 787 pix

A Boeing Dreamliner spent 18 hours late last week zigging and zagging across the U.S. following a flight plan that drew the image of a 787 Dreamliner across 22 states.

Boeing likes publicity, so occasionally it does its testing with flight plans that draw huge patterns across the country; last year it spelled out a giant MAX on an endurance test flight for the 737 MAX.

The test this time used a 787-8 to test the new Trent 1000 engine from Rolls Royce which is seeking certification to be used in some 787-10s. The test is required for ETOPS certification, which allows two-engine planes to be flown on long-distance over-water routes.
