April 4, 2020: 1886 Buffalo Cafe, Calgary

There aren't many older buildings in the Canadian west, so I was a little intrigued when spotted this one in downtown Calgary.  The 1886 Buffalo Café is a popular breakfast spot, located in the original home office of the Eau Claire and Bow River Lumber Company which was founded by Peter A. Prince (for whom Prince's Island Park is named).  It 's a small simple building, in direct contrast to the tall skyscrapers immediately behind it.

The café was closed when I visited, so I couldn't try the food, but I've heard it's good.  Immediately behind the Buffalo Cafe is another popular spot, the Barley Mill.
