Re: September 3, 2016: Rainbow(s) over the Kootenay Rockies
An ever changing canvas of art. Sometimes you just have to stop - and take in the beauty of nature. As the sun was setting last week - the sky turned a shade of purple. And the cars that were white - had a UV look to them. Spooky - never seen it before. Probably pollution in the distance. Taken by a friend: Pier Head, Liverpool, England 29 Aug '16

Gumbo's Pic of the Day, Oct 10, 2013: Sunflowers, Cranbrook, British Columbia
Sunflowers are happy things! Like the gentle quacking of ducks or the gurgle of a small creek down a mountain, they make me smile. I'm not sure if they're called sunflowers because they look a little like the sun or whether it's...

Re: Kootenai River Valley, Idaho
Thank you for the pictures of Northern Idaho. It reminded me of a visit there in April 6 years ago, and I was impressed by the marshland near Bonners Ferry, which is part of the floodplain of the Kootenai River. Just North of the border crossing and right beside the road, I came across this fine bald eagle, looking rather affronted at being disturbed.

Re: Kootenai River Valley, Idaho
Terrific photos, Roderick! Lots of eagles living around here. I've seen one timber wolf near the river -- the only one I've ever seen outside my life, with the exception of those we saw in Alaska.
