We came across this patriotically decorated International Harvester pickup truck while driving through Plains, Montana. It was an unusual enough sight that we pulled off the highway for a closer look. The truck was parked outside an insurance office.

The truck is an International Harvester A-100 series half-ton pickup truck. The A-100 series was only made in 1957 and 1958 (the two year models being almost identifical). The B series which followed it was made from 1959–1961, with only minor updates, and the C series in the mid-1960s.

I liked the flag motif paint job and thought it was a nice piece of yard art. The rocks and flowers in bed of the truck were a nice touch.

The area around Plains is quite pretty — but that’s true of much of Montana. This was the view from the truck’s parking lot looking north.
