This statue of Papageno, the Bird-Catcher of Mozart’s Magic Flute, marks a building at the site of the Freihaus Theatre, where The Magic Flute had its debut in 1791. The theater has been gone since 1801; the statue was installed in 1937 when the present building—called Papageno House—was built.
