The Pacific Biological Laboratories was a company that supplied biological samples and microscope slides across the country. It was founded and run by Dr. Ed Ricketts (1897-1948) in Monterey California. Dr. Ed and his company were the inspiration for the character “Doc” in the novel Cannery Row by John Steinbeck. Its original building is maintained as a museum on Cannery Row in Monterey, California.
