The hot-air balloon carrying the Olympic flame (or at least a trompe-l-oeil version of it) that became an unexpected hit of last year’s Paris Olympics will return to Paris this summer and each summer until the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The balloon will return to its original location in the Jardin des Tuileries, near the Louvre, on June 21 to coincide with the Fête de la Musique and will stay in the city until September 14th, soon to be designated National Sports Day.
A plan for visitor access has not yet been announced; during the Olympics it was a popular attraction.
The return had been lobbied for by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, and was announced by President Macron.
