My two weeks in Oaxaca were a bit like walking through a kaleidoscope—not only is nearly everything in brilliant, sometimes jewel-toned color, but the variety of shapes and sizes is amazing. This is only a small sample!

The line between humans and other animals is often blurred…

Skeletons and other ‘Day of the Dead’ characters are common… but it’s not morbid, it’s largely joyful.

They pop up here and there, even when they’re not front-and-center.

Some of the wall art serves other purposes; here’s one that advertises a cat cafe within; the headquarters of a telephone workers’ union and a garage.

There’s political comment on view as well; Donald Trump and a local figure depicted as cockroaches

Families and faith… and an over-the-door memorial.

This one is here not because the wall is spectacular, but because it just has SO many abbreviations strung out across the facade.

This wall in the Jalatlaco neighborhood has a dictionary of Mexican sign language.

Colorful corn and more…

Great street art!
