There’s now a special Mount Fuji tourist train for visitors who want an easy way to see Japan’s iconic mountain.
The train operates as part of a tour that also includes a bus visit to a major shrine at the foot of the mountain as well as waterfalls and wasabi fields. The train stops at a number of stations around the mountain, slowing in many places to allow photos. English-speaking guides are available.
The train itself is a special production: the interior of the train is decorated with images from Hokusai’s ‘Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji.”
The tour operates Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and will operate until December 22.
