Some residents of London’s trendy Notting Hill neighborhood have had it with influencers, Instagrammers and others swarming on their steps and blocking sidewalks to photograph their famously brightly-painted houses.
Some of them have now taken action by painting their houses black, instead, in hopes of reducing the hordes and have started a campaign urging others to follow in hopes of ending such behavior as climbing railings for a better shot, taking pictures through doors and even asking residents to go inside to avoid ruining a picture.
One resident told the Independent (UK) that “It happened during lockdown. This street has always had colours, but we have never had a problem. We must have come out on some influencer list somewhere. Everybody, like sheep, followed.”
Another resident commented that “we hope to go back to color eventually. We would have loved to keep the color of our home. We painted it [in the first place].”
