With Spring (and clock-changing) looming ahead, many of us are breathing a sigh of relief and looking forward to warm weather.
Probably no one more so than Norwegians, whose country’s northern extremes are always noted for cold weather, but which has only recently ended its coldest February in 16 years.
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute reported that average temperatures were 3.1C below the norm for the country. But for anyone who takes it as a sign that ‘global warming’ might be slowing down, the Institute says that “When the planet warms, natural phenomena and variations are affected. That is why we can sometimes see a weather situation ‘hang’, both with cold and with long periods of heat in the summer.”
