Niagara-on-the-Lake

Niagara-on-the-Lake is often described as the prettiest town in Ontario, and I’m not about to argue with that description. I made a day trip to this well-preserved village in the heart of Ontario wine country, while staying at Niagara Falls.

Niagara-on-the-Lake sits on the shores of Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the Niagara River.  The flower-filled, tree-lined old town features 19th-century buildings, mainly along Queen Street, and it is a joy to wander around.

A shuttle bus from Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake runs from May through October, departing from the floral clock on the Canadian side of the falls. The cost for a one-way ticket is $7.00 for an adult, and $5.00 for a child.
