The MyBanLao Hotel is located in the heart of Luang Prabang, Laos, about 0.2 miles from the city center (a UNESCO World Heritage site). It opened in March 2023 after extensive renovations and was developed as an eco-friendly resort.
The property was once the home of CIA-related operations during the 1960s, but that history is all but gone — although the original colonial structures were preserved and updated.
We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are modern and comfortable, and the food was very good. What I liked most about the place was the way water was incorporated into the layout of the complex.
The hotel has a conservation program for Laos turtles and tortoises, and you’ll spot a number of them swimming in the pools or in pens around the property.
