McConnell Mansion Historic House Museum, Moscow, Idaho

Moscow, Idaho, is a college town and at about 27,000 residents not a particularly large one at that.  While exploring Moscow a while back, my wife and I came across the McConnell Mansion Historic House Museum. It’s a pretty Victorian era building which was built in 1886 for William McConnell, a businessman who became the first Senator and third Governor of Idaho.  McConnell and his family lived in the house until 1897. The house changed hands a number of times before it was bequeathed to Latah County in 1966.
Since 1968, the Latah County Historical Society has managed the McConnell Mansion, which opened as a museum in 1970.  The home was listed on the national Register of Historic Places in 1974.  It is is described as a mixture of Queen Anne and Eastlake architectural styles and is the only Eastlake style home surviving in Idaho.
The McConnell Mansion is located in the historic Fort Russell neighborhood (110 South Adams Street)  The home is furnished with period decor.  Tours are available although (with my usual bad timing) not when we visited.

McArthur Lake, Idaho

I really love to get pictures with smooth water, but I love this picture with the small waves and crisscrossing patterns across the water.
