If you haven’t nailed down your travel plans for next year, you might want to take a look at the Best Places for 2026 issued by Frommer’s, the long-standing travel advice source.
It’s an annual list that highlights a variety of types of destinations, along with expert commentary plus photos of its 16 selected destinations.
Several of this year’s choices highlight the U.S. 250th anniversary, including Boston, Virginia, New York and Philadelphia. Other North American destinations on the list include Jasper, Alberta; Asheville, North Carolina; Hot Springs, Arkansas and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Outside North America, places on the list include Viti Levu, Fiji; European Capital of Culture Oulu, Finland; Portugal’s Algarve region; Adelaide, Australia; Argentina’s new coastal marine preserve, Patagonia Azul; Vienna; Peru; South Africa’s Kruger National Park (which is turning 100); and two stunning “set-jetting” locations Frommer’s says are ready for their close-up—Palawan, Philippines (where the new rom-com The Last Resort was made) and Costa Navarino, Greece, the mainland resort area used as the epic setting for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
