I came across a gentleman enjoying lunch on a bench with — an oversize statue of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States!
The statue is situated in Julia Davis Park, very near Zoo Boise. It was a beautiful fall day, one of the last of the year. When the gentleman left, my wife and I wandered for a closer look at President Lincoln’s likeness.

The statue is a 9 foot high bronze which weighs 6500 pounds (requiring a crane to put it into place in 2010). It’s an enlarged replica of a statue created by Gutzon Borglum, a sculptor born in Idaho who is best known as the creator of Mt. Rushmore.

Among his accomplishments, President Lincoln created the Idaho territory.

Great photo and caption!
Thanks, Marilyn!
