While visiting Richmond, Virginia, and its many historical attractions, my friend Ken suggested we visit Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.
I love botanical gardens and arboretums, so I immediately told him I loved the idea. Before leaving the city, we headed for the 50 acres of spectacular gardens, dining, and shopping.
The classical domed Conservatory, the only one of its kind in the mid-Atlantic, is currently being restored, but there are more than a dozen themed gardens, including a Children’s Garden, Rose Garden, Asian Valley, and Cherry Tree Walk.
Most plants and trees were marked, and the ones not were identified on Ken’s iPhone app.
We spent about two hours in the gardens and gift shop before heading for Williamsburg and more adventures.

Nice shots! You clearly went in spring – our own yellow rhododendron has just started flowering.
Thank you! I was there about three week ago. The gardens were alive with spring flowers!
