A new contender has sailed, headed toward a claim of ‘longest cruise ever’ with a planned 220 ports spread over a little mor than a year.
The ship Regatta, sailing from Rome, is catering to a primarily Australian audience, and has 8-day segments available as well as the full 371-day cruise that touches six continents. The cruise was organized by My Cruises, an Australian travel company, but the ship is operated by Explorations by Norwegian, a new division of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.
Regatta, which has room for 684 guests, was originally put in service in 1998 by Renaissance Cruises as R-2; when the company failed in 2001, it was sold to Oceania Cruises, another Norwegian brand. Tickets for the full 371 days were priced between $99,000 and $29,989 Austrailian ($71,450 to $180,410 U.S.)
