March 29 will be a ‘time-capsule travel’ day in London as the London Bus Museum rolls out an assortment of vintage buses from its collection to offer a 20th-century transit experience.
The buses, most from the 1950s and 1960s but with a few from the 1930s, will run on Route 19 from Finsbury Park to Battersea Bridge, a route that’s unchanged since it was started in 1906.
The iconic red buses will charge no fare along the route, and can be boarded at any of the line’s regular stops. Present-day buses will be running, too, but they will charge regular fare.
The bus museum is at Weybridge, ironically more than 20 miles southwest of London.
