Starting this week, arriving passengers at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport will be able to travel into the city by taxi at fixed prices which were set based on the average fares in existence.
Daytime trips to Zone 1 in central Lisbon will pay a daytime rate of €16 for up to four passengers and luggage, or €19 to Zone 2. From 10 pm to 7 am, the rates will be €20 and €23. The system uses the same fare structure as taxi vouchers provided through Turismo de Lisboa. Trips to destinations outside the city start at €36.95.
Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas said “There have been problems with insecurity and scams at the airport for more than 30 years,” adding that a recent inspection of 100 vehicles in August resulted in infractions being found in 67 of them.
Lisbon City Council, the National Association of Road Transport Operators in Light Vehicles, the Portuguese Taxi Federation, Turismo de Lisboa and ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal negotiated the new agreement.
