Kyrenia Gate, Lefkoşa, North Cyprus

Originally built by the Venetians in the 1560s, this gate in Nicosia’s city walls has been restored several times. In 1931 the British demolished the wall on both sides of the gate in order to ease the traffic flow at what had become a bottleneck.
