The Isle of Skye is the largest of the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge, making it quite accessible. We spent several days there a number of years back and enjoyed exploring the windy, rugged, treeless landscape of Skye.

One of our stops was to see Mealt Falls and in the distance Kilt Rock, which are featured in these images. You are required to park by the road and take a short walk to an overview along a cliff’s edge. Mealt Falls is fed by water from Loch Mealt, and its water dramatically plunges some 60 meters to the rocks below.

Kilt Rock’s dramatic cliffs were named for their resemblance to the pleats of a Highland kilt.
So serene!
