JetBlue will fly all the way to Milan next summer, its longest overseas route, and add service to Barcelona as well. Both routes will fly from Boston.
For an airline whose trans-Atlantic ventures were widely predicted to end as the airline ran into financial troubles following its failed attempt to buy Spirit Airlines, that’s quite a turnaround in a year’s time.
Most of its European routes are for the summer and early fall seasons, which will be the case for these routes as well. Year-round destinations from both Boston and New York are London, Amsterdam and Paris; summer routes include Dublin, Madrid, and Edinburgh.
JetBlue’s trans-Atlantic routes fly with single-aisle A321LR and XLR planes that offer the airline’s ‘Mint’ premium cabin at rates generally lower than other airlines’.
