With another heat wave gripping Europe, Italy’s health ministry has repeated its advice from last year: Eat gelato!
Along with a list of other measures to avoid suffering in the heat, including drinking plenty of water, wearing light clothing and avoiding excess exposure, the ministry advises that “Consuming an ice cream or a milkshake can be an alternative to a midday meal.”
Also on the list: stay home between 11 am and 6 pm. For visitors, who are less likely to want to take the day off, museums, churches and other indoor sites are a plus over, say, visiting Pompeii.
