A new ferry service between Ireland and Spain starts this April, providing a new travel option, and possibly a post-Brexit freight solution for shippers.
Brittany Ferries will operate two round-trips a week between Cork and Santander in Northern Spain, and will add an additional round trip on its route from Cork to Roscoff, France. The Santander route will use a 500-passenger, 195-car ferry that will also cover the additional Roscoff sailing.
Port of Cork officials believe the route will be popular with shippers after Britain leaves the EU next year because of the potential for port delays when cargo has to pass through customs on its way between EU member Ireland and the Continent.
