Located in front of a pub. The place used to be a stagecoach stopping point (see coach and horses to the top right of the sign). Not sure how the fish and swimmer fit in, except that the Danube River running through Regensburg is known for its large catfish — perhaps even of man-eating size?

The swimmer is meant to be Jonah and the big fish a whale. The wall used to bear the inscription ‘Gasthaus Zum Walfisch’, which means ‘Whale Inn’. Without that clue it’s indeed difficult to see why the sign is there.
