I love finding glass-fronted buildings that give you a two-for-one look at local architecture, and it’s especially fun when the reflected building is sharply at odds with its mirror. This one is a Monoprix department store in Lyon, France.
In this case, the reflection is of the Palais de la Bourse, built in the 1850s to serve as home for the Stock Exchange, the Chamber of Commerce, the Commercial Court and a museum of art and industry; these days the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the lone occupant.
The building was opened in 1860 by Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie. in 1894, just in front of the entrance stairs, Marie François Sadi Carnot, President of France, was assassinated.
