Boeing has taken a leaf from science fiction and turned it into a patent for a force field that could protect airplanes (and other objects) from damaging explosions. The title of the patent is “method and system for shockwave attenuation via electromagnetic arc.
Hasn’t been built yet, but they’re working on it. It would use a sensor to detect the direction of shockwayves, and then use a laser to create a field between the explosion and the the target.
