Highlights of the Borders 3 Jamboree Car Show, Bonners Ferry

Every spring after the snow has melted and ice is off the roads, older cars and trucks begin to emerge from storage in places with colder climates, like Northern Idaho where I live.  There are a lot of people who love, own, like to drive, and share their beloved classic cars and trucks with others.  The biggest event near where I live is the annual Lost in the 50’s gathering in May, in Sandpoint, where hundreds of older vehicles can be found.  A smaller but still interesting gathering is held in the town near where I live, Bonners Ferry, during the first weekend in June.

The Bonners Ferry show is also well attended and there are interesting things to see.  As I know we have a lot of old car buffs in our audience, I thought I’d share some of my personal favorite from this year.

A vehicle that looks like it might have been crafted for Barbie, this pretty in pink VW van dates to 1971 and has been lovingly restored.

A terrific 1948 Mercury 2-door sedan

1957 Chevy Bel-Air
1929 Ford Pickup

1954 Ford Crestline Victoria
1968 Firebird convertible — a sexy muscle car from my youth

1972 GMC Sierra pickup — of the “square front” design that is very popular with collectors
1930 Ford Model A sedan

1970 Dodge Charger. Not my favorite color, but my older brother had a similar styled 1974 green Charger SE, so this one brought back a lot of memories.
1936 Ford sedan with fabulous paint job!
1969 VW Karmann Ghia

1957 GMC 3100 pickup

The best rat rod in attendance was this rebuilt old Ford truck
