Postcards from Greece—Naxos harbour

Arriving in Hora’s harbour in Naxos in the early dusk on the busy inter-island ferry, the weary traveller is greeted by this lovely sight of the harbour with it’s old Venetian fortifications that protected the harbour in years gone by.

The largest and loftiest of the Cyclades archipelago, the rugged island of NÁxos boasts a wealth of historic traces of architecture and folklore. In the following gentle sunlit days you will be strolling the warren of narrow streets of it’s principal town, Hora, past buildings that were embassies of long-lost countries a thousand years ago and past town houses of their important citizens – and steadily you will become lost in the beauty of it’s history…
