Despite its well-earned reputation for having freezing, harsh winters, the cold weather ultimately leaves Chicago and is replaced by a very pleasant spring. This is a great time of year to visit the “Windy City”. Tulips and cherry trees are starting to bloom and the days are pleasantly warm. No nicer place to go for a stroll than Chicago’s famous Riverwalk or Millennium park.
Today’s pics are some scenes from a springtime visit. We’ve another post on this website for those interested in reading and seeing more about Chicago — click here for that.
I’d like to comment on design as it applies to the Pic of the Day thumbnail that appears on the homepage. I’ve been trying to choose pictures for this feature that look attractive in the small scale we first see, that will invite viewers to click on it to see it full-sized, along with whatever else we post. I think this one is a great example of what looks good in such a small size, clear design elements, in this case the central flower bed with a linear frame of pavement, trees and buildings beyond, drawing us into the picture. An excellent choice for the purpose. Just thought I’d mention it.
Thanks for the comment, PortMoresby.
Isn’t it interesting how the red tulips seem 3-dimensional. I noticed it in the Ananda pictures too. Very nice, DrF.
