Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum #2: All the Rest

A few weeks ago I introduced you to the wonderful collection of Packard cars and trucks I discovered while visiting the Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum (click on link to see this post).  That post focused on the history of the museum and it’s older vehicles.

This post features more vehicles from museum’sl collection, including some unusual specimens.  It also concludes this series.  Here we go:

1925 Packard, #326 Runabout:

1925 Packard, #243, 7 Passenger Touring:

1925 Packard Paddy Wagon:

1928 Packard Tow Truck:

1930 Packard #740 Coupe:

1931 Packard #845, Convertible Sedan:  A very classy vehicle

1932 Packard #900 Sedan:

1938 Packard #886, Funeral Flower Car: Don’t believe I’ve ever seen a car quite like it before

1938 Packard 12, Model 1608:

1939 Packard #1707, Victoria Convertible:  Probably the most beautiful car in the collection.

1940 Packard #1803, Super 8 Touring Sedan:

1948 Packard #2201, Woodie:

1950 Packard Convertible Victoria:

1955 Packard #5580, Caribbean Convertible:

There was a lot of Packard and general old automotive memorabilia on display, far too extensive to document in this blog.  But here’s a brief sample:

Fabulous specimens!
The post(s) prompted me into looking up the history of the company. The story of their decline after the war and eventual demise in 1959 makes very depressing reading. It’s a shame the Lauderdale museum also no longer exists. The Wikipedia article on Packard suggests that some 50 cars in a different collection ended up in the crusher!
