Two American fast food brands are out of business in two European countries, although for very different reasons.
The British-owned Dutch company that has had the franchise for Taco Bell in the Netherlands has declared bankruptcy and closed all eleven of its outlets spread across several Dutch cities. A previous operator failed in 2018. Perhaps third time could be the charm, but no word on anyone stepping forward to try.
In Denmark, meanwhile, KFC is out of business, at least for now, after a rogue operator was found guilty of numerous food safety violations, including changing use-by dates and failing food safety investigations.
Isken ApS, the company holding the franchise, was ordered by KFC to close all eleven stores until a new operator could be found, but apparently continued for some time until it ran out of funds to pay its 200 employees.
