Despite the image from long ago of airline flight attendants as young, smiling women, EasyJet is so happy with its 50s+ smiling men and women that it’s looking to recruit more.
The airline started targeting 50+ job-changers and early retirees in 2022, and says the number of staff over 50 has doubled and the number who are in their 60s has quadrupled.
Michael Brown, EasyJet’s cabin services director, said that many of the older hires were concerned at first that they would be older than the rest of the team, but that has changed.
He told reporters that “We want more over-50s to apply as they not only bring their existing skills to excel in a career at easyJet, but also a wealth of life experience that is appreciated by our customers and colleagues alike, which is at the heart of the fantastic service our crew are known for.”
